The facts of Elon Musk’s timeline are fairly simple and widely available.
He was born in 1971 in South Africa to a family of modest income as compared to the standards in the US. The rumor that Elon’s father was a wealthy emerald mine owner is not true, but that doesn’t even matter as Elon gained nothing from his father. His mother divorced his father when Elon was 9 due to abuse. Elon was forced to stay with his father because his mother was not making enough money to survive in Canada.
Eventually, Elon joined his Mother in Canada where he went to high school. Elon then worked his way through college and graduated with 100k worth of debt.
Right after graduating, Elon Musk started creating his first software called Zip2. At this point he was still so poor he couldn’t even afford a second computer to run his software on while he developed it. As a result, Zip2 was only online during the day, and at night Elon would work on coding it.
In 1999 Elon Musk sold Zip2 for 307 million dollars. He then went on to create Paypal and sell it to eBay for 1.5 billion dollars.
From here he goes on to start SpaceX, join Tesla, and develop these and other enterprises to what we see them as today.
